Eligibility Criteria

Associate Professor
- Pay Scale: Academic Level 13A, Entry Pay ₹1,31,400/- (7th CPC Pay Matrix)

- Ph.D. in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline.
- Master’s Degree with at least 55% marks (or equivalent grade).
- Minimum 8 years of teaching/research experience equivalent to Assistant Professor, with at least 7 peer-reviewed/UGC-listed journal publications and a research score of 75 (as per Appendix II, Table 2).
- Desirable Qualifications (Examples):
- Botany (SI. No. 25–27): Specialization in Phycology/Bryology/Cytology, Molecular Biology, or any branch of Botany.
- Zoology (SI. No. 28–29): UG, PG, and Ph.D. in Zoology/Life Science, with specialization in Ecology/Entomology or other branches.
- Environmental Science (SI. No. 31): Ph.D. with specialization in Environmental Chemistry, Geology, Ecology, Toxicology, Management, or Economics.
- Agronomy (SI. No. 36): B.Sc. (Ag.) Hons., M.Sc. (Ag.), Ph.D. in Agronomy, with experience in precision farming, remote sensing, or climate change.
Assistant Professor

- Essential Qualifications:
- Master’s degree with 55% marks in a relevant subject from an Indian or accredited foreign university.
- Clearance of NET/SLET/SET conducted by UGC/CSIR, or a Ph.D. as per UGC Regulations (2009/2016). Candidates with a Ph.D. from a top 500 world-ranked university (QS, THE, or ARWU) are exempt from NET/SLET/SET.
- For pre-2009 Ph.D. candidates, additional conditions include regular mode Ph.D., evaluation by two external examiners, open viva-voce, two published research papers (one in a refereed journal), and two conference/seminar presentations.
- Desirable Qualifications (Examples):
- Physics (SI. No. 73): Specialization in Condensed Matter Physics.
- Botany (SI. No. 74): M.Sc. in Botany with specialization in Molecular Biology or Plant Reproductive Biology.
- Zoology (SI. No. 75–77): B.Sc. (Hons.)/Major in Zoology, M.Sc., and Ph.D. in Zoology, with specializations in Ecology/Entomology, Parasitology, or Immunology/Developmental Biology.

Relaxations
- A 5% relaxation (from 55% to 50%) in marks at Bachelor’s and Master’s levels is available for SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/Differently-abled candidates.
- Ph.D. holders who obtained their Master’s degree before September 19, 1991, are eligible for a 5% relaxation in marks.

- Verification: Selected candidates will undergo police verification and document verification. Any false information may lead to cancellation of candidature.
- Residence: Appointees must reside within Visva-Bharati’s territorial jurisdiction as per the Visva-Bharati Act, 1951.
- No TA/DA: Candidates called for interviews will not receive travel or daily allowances.
- Skype Interviews: Candidates abroad may attend interviews via Skype.
- Jurisdiction: Any disputes will fall under the jurisdiction of the Hon’ble High Court, Calcutta.
